The University of Missouri Homeland Security Preparedness Initiative

Mission:
The University of Missouri Homeland Security Preparedness Initiative
is designed to align the research and training expertise of the University
of Missouri with the needs of local, state and national agencies responsible
for Homeland Security. This initiative will maximize anti-terrorism preparedness
at the University of Missouri campuses, focus University of Missouri's
response to emerging needs within the State of Missouri and the nation
and identify new opportunities for research and teaching.
Goals:

Security—To ensure the security and safety of the students, faculty and staff
at all of the University of Missouri campuses.

Education—To have the University campuses take leadership roles in the education
of students, faculty, staff and local communities in key areas of
anti-terrorism responsiveness. These areas include public health,
agricultural and livestock threat reduction, biological and chemical
threat identification and mitigation, critical infrastructure security,
nuclear reactor security, transportation infrastructure security,
communication and IT security, the human response to terrorist threats.

Research—Identify specific resources and areas of expertise relevant to homeland
security and anti-terrorism preparedness that the University of Missouri
campuses can extend to the local, state and federal agencies to assist
in the State of Missouri Homeland Security efforts.
- Funding—Facilitate the identification of research funding related to terrorism
threat reduction and facilitate the development of cross-campus, multidisciplinary
research teams to successfully compete for such funds.
